Unfolding the Act

You see that girl over there?
---Uh huh, the one in the corner with the smile on her face. She's one of them. One of the ones who knows the ropes. Everyone sees the confidence she carries around with her, and the way that she's able to use it as a mask. They don't think she's a hero. They just think she's good at what she does: faking. And that's admirable around here.
Most of these people can see right through you, but they take into account just how cleverly you hide the burden on your back. You're judged on your stage performance. You're loved for the brilliance of your finest masquerade. And hey, don't worry---it'll get easier to act as time goes on. Sooner or later, you'll be a whiz at it. Just like that girl who I was talking about.

The girl who gets all the applause for being everything she isn't.

* * *

Being around people makes me inquisitive about their mindsets. I like to explore what goes on in the noggin. That's where the inspiration for this short soliloquy came from. It's sad to think about how many people who are considered friends and acquaintances, and yet have never known the feeling of being real with someone.

Be ready people: There are so many hearts to be unfolded in this world. Kind of like doing the laundry in reverse.

Nighty-night,
K-Minty

Reason to respect Peeta: He's an artist too.

Lesson to be learned: Take a cake decorating class.

Enough To Let Me Go || Switchfoot

This song pretty much hits home in one of those beautifully painfully irriatating ways.

As them cool kids say these days: *ALL MY FEELS*

Here's to the coming week,
K-Minty

PS: Don't you just hate it when a tiny crumb of food gets stuck underneath your laptop key and makes it all impossible to type that particular character??

"The Hope"

Here I iz, wanted to write you a goofy short story, but unaware of where that story might lead. Ya'know, I haven't exactly been Kismint the Writer lately. More like Kismint the Arteest. And although I've yet to get my act together and do my lil' "doodle for google" projectomundo, I have been drawing and preparing work for an art fair of sorts (to be hosted at my home school co-op, if you were a-wondering).

That aside, and pushing away the fact that an Arteest generally finds him or herself with a surprising lackage of words and phrases, it is nearly midnight and I can feel a rush of that weird introverted-wordplay that comes into the mind when dreams and reality combine.

And dude, I am master at run-on sentences.

"The Hope"
by kismint plinkadink

We peer within our hearts that melt so easily in other's hands
And wonder at the darkest stains that show such evil plan
For darkness doth abide well there, in mortal's twisted soul
That even when the good combines, the dark shall take such toll

But fear not, fret not, faceless friend, who's worry tarry nigh
For Savior came to take the load brought fourth by you and I
It was our sin he bore therein, on tree in bloody death
And when the last of all it came, He said in dying breath:

"Father forgive them, they know not of how they have you wronged
Please father do not flee from them, but leave sin as bygone"
His peels echoed in the towns, and curtain did he tear
And trembled did the townsfolk, in Holy Spirit's affair

"It is finished.", Whispered He, then end announced to come
And gone was that: the strife of man; the burden left and done
An end to that which kept us from the righteous robes we wore
And hindered us from entering the glorious Heaven's door

For after death and dreary end of Son of God and Man
Did Savior rise from tomb and gave to give a final stand
Christ had wakened from the shadow of gloomy palace walls
And risen now He walked among them, triumphant over all

"I am with you.", Assured He, as ascending to the sky
And watched by lambs that were His own, he left a living light
The light that now is offered you, to keep in your own heart
That causes fear to flee from you, and victors over dark

Not much. 'Nuff said.

Oh. Hi.

I'd like to start this post off by telling you that if you sat back and watched a single day of my life from start to finish and happened to pick February 19, 2013, you would be horrifically board.
I mean really REALLY board.
*headdesk*
I. Have. No. Life.

That aside, Anthem Lights = da bomb.
(Yes Lauricia, I wholeheartedly join you and the rest of the Lightbulbs. ;)

Not very recent, but I seriously love this mash-up. I basically have it on repeat.

Ooh...And the Avatar, The Last Airbender series. I should mention those.
Funny---I'm not a fan of many cartoons. And I don't really get anime (although drawing it is fun). But this innocent little cartoon series is rather hilarious. Albeit, it takes a while to really warm up to it, but after you do warm up to the series, you really can't stop watching them.
 Airbending rocks the world.

The conclusion of this meaningless post: Tuesdays are very, very slow days.

Things should pick up tomorrow.

Day-Old Heart-Shaped Crumbling Cookies

Pretend that just a few minutes, you heard a suspiciously loud clunk and looked outside the window that's right behind you there, only to find a time machine sitting proudly on the lawn.
---That's not to say that you know it's a time machine for sure (for all you know, it could be an alien nuke...but no matter), but it looks to be what you generally picture whenever you picture a time machine. It's not the TARDIS. It's just a time machine. That's it.

Well anyway, you head outside to your lawn and ultimately out to your garden gnome's new acquaintance. Now, your a little intimidated (after all, who wouldn't be---what with the smoke and fumes coming from the piece of ingenuity). Still, your curiosity gets the best of you, and you step or leap or skip yourself into this time-defying mechanism.

The moment you're in, you feel yourself falling...fallllllling...FALLING.

AND THEN YOU HIT YESTERDAY.

Good. Now I can write you a St. Valentine's Day post.

* * *

In honor of the blessed February the Fourteenth, I though I might share with you some words of wisdom. The following are golden nuggets of worthy truth, and very much describe the four loves respectively.

Do with them what you will.

“Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up.”
~ Neil Gaiman

“Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.”
~ Robert A. Heinlein

“If you judge people, you have no time to love them.”
~ Mother Teresa

“We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—true love.”
~ Robert Fulghum

“Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.”

~ Alfred Tennyson

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
~ C.S. Lewis

"Love is when you're missing some of your teeth but you're not afraid to smile because you know your friends will still love you even though some of you is missing."
~ Emma K., age 6

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
~ The Holy Bible

On Wednesday I was asked to draw a picture on a large white poster board with oil pastels. I was a happy clam, drawing and depicting to my heart's content and desire. It is a lovely thing to be an artist.
The poster was allegedly "a billboard of what our bible study topic was". Naturally, the topic was on love---all the different loves---Agape, Phillipa, and the rest.
Well I do confess that I was quite proud of my picture. It was not completed, and I intend on working on it throughout the space of several Wednesday nights. Nevertheless, its grey outline holds promise.

After we were finished for the night, and after I stored my poster board and pastels into "safe" places (the storage hold---err---closet? miffed me a bit) until my next return to youth group, my youth pastor handed me free reign to do what I wanted to do with my soon-to-be-masterpiece. It should be noted that he also coughed out the idea of including a Bible verse somewhere on my progressing piece of art (I might add that yes, this idea crossed my mind as well).

However, I also had the inkling to print out numerous quotes about love (like the ones above) and pin them to the poster board, making a sort of collage out of it.

Hmm.

That is my story.
Rather, me telling you what I think about concerning something that is, ten to one, completely irrelevant to you.
See? Aren't my stories great?

So that aside, happy Valentine's Day. But it's too late---I've eaten all of the heart-shaped cookies that you sent me this morning. Here is your time machine, I've set it properly in order for you to return to the exact moment that you left tomorrow. Please don't tamper with the doodleybob.

Good night,
Kismint

The Poet Replies

You all keep asking for them, and I aim to please! :)
More poems:
(the small font at the start of each one denotes the title)

* * *

"Machine"
You're a piece, a piece on a board
A head on a plate, a coin on the floor

You're fighting hard, you're in the game
You've got your edge: you're a rising name

They've placed their bets, they've cast their lots
You're in their heads---you're in their thoughts

The pressure's on, the clock is ticking
The wait is gone, you're bent on winning

You've jumped ahead, you've crossed the line
You've psyched them out but you're still behind

You're a machine, a work of art
But with nothing more then a mechanical heart

 "A Drop of Rain"
Swirly, twirly, drop of rain, find us in the sand
Send us word of home and pray: That we see our land
The land of promise, far ahead
And far away it lies
But hope from far above us fall,
And help our spirits rise

Send us word from loved ones, whom we miss so dear
The darling children and the wives, who's love remains sincere
Give us perseverance,
to weather yonder storm
And let us live in patience,
Through every troubled morn

"Founding Faltered End"
Oh willow-wand and snowy brook
I do so long for you
To comfort me with word and book
And sing a short debut

In these walls and secret eve
Where shadows play in peace
I long to hear a word of love
And loneliness to cease

Darkness dares the heart to cry
In pain of foolish whim
So real were once both you and I
But found a faltered end

"Winter Exits"
Strike the flame
Start the fire
Burn the match
Blow desire
Beat the embers
Into light
And stroke the coals
Our heats ignite

Leave the wintry wasteland
Turn back from frosty eve
Send the withered snowman
Back upon his knees
Beat the biting cold
That treads in icy glare
And send this withered world
To a warmer worker's care

"Beacon Light"
Beacon light, beacon light, of feint star glimmering
Be our hopes and faith tonight through foggy glistening
Lead us forth to quiet docks, which stormy seas so loathe
And take us to the humble place of peaceful hearth and home
Guide us in the peril, through rocks of turmoil rage
And bear our path of yonder straight, oh light of golden age

Beacon light oh beacon light, eternal flame afar
Send us safely onto land by dawn of morning star

"The Clock"
I'm just a clock on the shelf top
Singing my old worker's song
I sit in the silence of your day job
And in silence is where I belong

I tick and I tock with the straightest face
I keep to my own charming rhyme
But everyone heeds me, for when I speak
I tell you the secret of time

* * *
What dost thou think, hm?
Two of these I wrote a number of nights ago before I fell asleep. All the others I just now typed up. I think this is the first time that I've ever jotted down titles for my poems.
I'm rather fond of my clock composition.
Do tell which ones you do and don't like.
Also, do you enjoy poems that rhyme or go on with more of an abstract and less uniform line?

I'll talk to you soon,
K-Minty
