Oatmeal, Chocolate Chips, and Merlin

You should all know that I hate cooking. So on Friday, I decided to cook.

That is, bake cookies because it's November and everyone thinks that November means cookies. To be precises, they were oatmeal chocolate chip, but does preciseness really matter? Yes. Preciseness does, in fact matter when it comes to baking. Because of this tiny factor, I only just about botched the entire batch half a dozen times. In the end, they came out under cooked and I was happy enough with my cookies. However, let it be known to all that the best part about cooking is making the messes.

I do not mind cleaning up messes. That duty has been more or less my life. Therefore: I am a mess cleaner-upper. So when I end up spilling all the oatmeal on the floor and flinging the batter across the counter because the blender went kaput, ye be warned, instead of sighing angrily at the generally terrible state of things, I will probably just crack up, clap my hands, and shout "LET'S DO IT AGAIN!!"

Messes are the only reason why cooking can be fun.

Somehow I feel as if later in life it would be a good idea to make sure that my future husband realizes that I often have the urge to blow things up in the microwave. Or that I seriously do want to pop popcorn in a pot without the lid.

Anyway, I present the evidence.

 (before the fiery furnace oven)

(after the vacation to the Sahara oven)

To be perfectly candid, these things ended up looking a little better than they tasted (or so I thought), but in the end, we all must remember the blessed proverb:
"Cookies are good. Eat them and be happy."
Finally, I'd like to take this moment and share with you, one of the most phenomenal clips of one of the most phenomenal TV shows that I happen to absolutely adore.

I empathize.
(not with the flea mention at the end, mind you, but with the whole cooking thing)

Oh my dear, you are awesome. Ever tell you that?

I want to congratulate you on baking, and from the looks of it, the fantastic job you did. You should be proud, ya know. And just between you and me, I can't make chocolate chip cookies right to save my life, so another double WOOHOO to you. =) They are a hard cookie to master. And that's coming from the girl who actually has a baking blog. Ah, honestly, why do I have a baking blog when I can't make those silly little cookies?! Its okay to agree with me on that.

This was very comical to read. haha. Quote: "Lets do it again!!" haha. Oh yes....Messes. With a family of 8 kids, there is a fare share of messes, so I don't exactly find the cleaning part always terribly enjoyable, (unless of course I'm in a contemplative mood, and then I talk to my soapy suds and green scrubber.) which means we'd make a wonderful good pair. ;) haha, just kidding. I like cleaning the kitchen and house when I'm alone. That's when its enjoyable.

And on the subject of popcorn....Doesn't everybody want to pop it without a lid and see those little babies fly everywhere? =) Aye, I am guilty of it too.

Anyhoo, this girl has rambled too long. All to say, I love you, and your Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies ;)

@ Lauricia:
Yeah...popcorn...Lately I've been thinking about how wonderfully wacky it will be when I have my own house and my own kitchen. I can't even begin to tell you how crazy I will go with sticking tin foil in the micro wave. ;)

Hopefully (for the sake of both my life and my reputation) by then I'll have matured a bit.

Oh, that's reassuring about the chocolate chip cookies. My mum just had me use the recipe on the back of some gluten free flour from Trader Joe's. They weren't the greatest, but still enjoyed by my dad and brother (who happened to make them magically vanish).

Oh, messes! How I love them in a backwards way! =D

God bless!
